Day 038 - "Chocolate Chip" Cookie Dough

Currently Burning: Pumpkin Pickin'

Today I thought I would make something that I've been craving lately: chocolate chip cookie dough. Before you freak out, this is an egg-less recipe, so it's totally safe to eat raw! I'm using a recipe that is the topping of a brownie/cookie dough treat. Of course, this isn't really chocolate chip cookie dough since I'm leaving the chips out, but I like the cookie dough for chocolate chip cookies better than sugar cookies. I know this is ridiculously bad for me, but it's ok to be bad once in awhile ;)

Ingredients:
3/4 cup of room temp butter
3/4 cup of packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup of granulated white sugar
3 Tablespoons of milk
1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 1/2 cups of mini choc chips (I'm skipping this part because I like it better without chocolate)

Cream together butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a medium bowl with an electric mixer.

Mix in milk and vanilla

Mix in flour until just combined. Add chocolate chips.

This can be chilled an stored for a couple weeks (if it lasts that long!!)

Now onto the daily review!

Pumpkin Pickin' (5): I really like this one. It's almost a pure pumpkin with just the slightest note of spice. Very nice for Fall and Winter! The throw on this one is about medium. I'd consider getting this one in a candle.

Day 037 - The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Currently Burning: Godfather

I should change Movie Monday to Disney Movie Mondays because I've been on a kick the past three weeks! I bought this movie a few months ago and finally got around to watching it. It was one of my favorites growing up, but I haven't seen it in years. I really love the music in this one :)

Now onto the daily review!

Godfather (4): This is one of Victoria's Black Label candles. It's a pretty spicy candle with a pumpkin note in it. She lists clove, cardamom, ginger, mace, cinnamon, and nutmeg as the spices in it. It also has a background of vanilla. I really like this one. I think it's a great cold weather scent without being too tied to the holidays. It doesn't smell at all like pumpkin pie, but I do get pumpkin and vanilla. The spices round it out nicely. It doesn't really smell like food to me though. I can't place exactly what it smells like, but it's nice.

Day 036 - Super Bowl Sunday

Currently Burning: Momma's Peach Cobbler

I can't believe we're already almost a week into February. 2012 is flying by quick! I'm really excited to see what happens with the Super Bowl because Victoria is having a surprise sale today! She's giving whatever the combined point total for the 1st half of the Super Bowl off as a discount percentage. It will be a minimum of 12% and a maximum of 50%. I'm thinking that if it's 25% or higher I'm going to place an order, but if not then I can probably hold out. I just placed an order on Wednesday so I don't want to be too crazy with my obsession :)

At the end of the 2nd Quarter - New York: 9, New England: 10 - so the discount is only 19%. I think I am going to go ahead and give in since it's more than 15%. However it will definitely be a small order. I'm putting a $50 max cap on myself.

Now onto the daily review!

Momma's Peach Cobbler (5): I was SO excited to finally get to burn this one. I wanted to wait until the weekend to be sure I had enough time to get a full melt pool. It took about 5 hours to completely melt across, which is pretty decent for a candle this size. This candle smells AMAZING and scents up even when it's not lit. The scents in here are Maple Butter Crunch and Cajun Cornbread (a mix of peach preserves and Kim's country cornbread). This is one of Victoria's comfort candles and they are 16 oz. I definitely want to try more of her comfort candles because if they're even half as good as this one they're worth it.

Day 035 - 9 oz Jars

Currently Burning: Very Sexy for Men

I thought I would start a series on Victoria's jar sizes. I know in the past she has had different types of jars, but I'm just going to cover the few that I have. For the 9oz jars, she uses mason jars. Most of her company uses this cute country theme (as you can see in the label). I don't really go for the jar because of decor because I'm not really concerned about that.

These jars used to be my favorite because the throw on them is great for medium to large rooms (same as the 8oz jars) and I felt I got more bang for my buck since the more wax you buy the cheaper it is per ounce. These run at $8.50 individually or $47.00 for 6 ($7.83 each). However, I've decided that I like the 8oz jars better because they are round versus these being square. Since they're square, I feel they have to burn a lot longer to get a full melt pool. Victoria's candles are great though because even if you don't get a full melt pool every time, as the candle burns down the sides of the jar warm up and melt the excess wax.

I've only gone through one of these completely (my old Bella Swan candle). It did burn clean all the way down. I did throw the jar away and now I kind of wish that I hadn't. We'll see what I decide to do with these as I use up more of them.

Also, I placed a new order on February 1st so expect a new haul soon!!!

Now onto the daily review!

Very Sexy for Men (4): This is a dupe of a Victoria's Secret cologne of the same name. I do like this one much better than the other cologne scents that I've smelled from her. The throw on this one is not too overpowering like many of those tend to be. Plus, I wouldn't say this is very gender specific because I could see both guys and girls wearing this.

Day 034 - Batman Arkham Asylum

Currently Burning: Water Lily and Pear

Batman Arkham Asylum was released in August of 2009. However, I only recently got around to playing this because one of my friends said I needed to try it. I'm certainly happy I took his advice. This game reminds me a little bit of Tomb Raider, but it is combined with fighting techniques of something like Castlevania. Batman has quite a few gadgets that make solving the puzzles in the game very fun. I also recently got the sequel to this game, Batman Arkham City so expect a review on that one at some point.

Now onto the daily review!

Water Lily and Pear (4): This is a very clean fragrance. However, it doesn't smell like a cleaning product, just nice and fresh. The throw is also pretty good. I think I would get this for my bathroom in a full candle.

Day 033 - Charmed

Currently Burning: Cinnamon Stick

Charmed is my all time favorite show. It was on the air from 1998 to 2006. It follows the story of 3 sisters who are witches living in San Francisco. The three witches are the culmination of good magic and are called the Charmed Ones. The first three seasons had Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano).

At the end of Season 3, Shannen Doherty left the show and they killed off her character. A new half-sister Paige (Rose McGowan) came onto the show at the beginning of Season 4.

The show ran for 8 seasons before finally ending. The story is really cool to follow from the beginning and the writing on the show is excellent. They also parody a lot of fairy tales and supernatural things on the show so it's a good laugh. There's also a few special episodes where they travel through time, become super heroes, turn into fairy tale characters, and even become goddesses. If you've never seen Charmed definitely check it out. You will not regret it :)

Now onto the daily review!

Cinnamon Stick (1): I really do not like this one. It smells like Big Red gum and something else that I'm not quite sure of. The throw is pretty strong on this one and by itself it's bad. It might be ok if mixed with something else, but I'm definitely not going to try this solo again. Also, my tart was super old and had glitter in it for some reason.

Day 032 - VlogCandy

Currently Burning: Elvis

I originally found VlogCandy back in June of 2010. John (Tuesday) guest starred on 5awesomegays and from there I found his channel and VlogCandy. VlogCandy started at the end of November 2008. The Introduction video to the channel is below:

I'll list all 5 cast members and put one of my favorite videos they posted on the channel below. This was really hard for me since I love SO many of the videos on there.

Monday (Andrew)

This video is from the Musical week they had. I feel like Andrew had the best song that week and this video was great :) Andrew was the only non-American on the channel (representing Canada!) Andrew's personal channel is andrewbravener

Tuesday (John)

This video is from the Top Model week. John is easily my favorite of all of the VlogCandy members. I feel like he really put a lot into just about every single one of his videos. His are also all pretty much hilarious. His personal channel is dudeneedaeaseonup.

Wednesday (Meghan)

This video is from the week where they impersonated a host of a cooking show. Meghan's personal channel is strawburry17. Of all of the original members, Meghan is the one that is really taking YouTube as a career.

Thursday (Zack)

This video was from Road Trip week.  Zack's a big sweetheart. He's the resident "dude-bro with a soft side." In addition to being a good artist, he also makes music. His personal channel is zacharyxbinks.

Friday (Aubrey)

This video was from the Infomercial week. Aubrey is a close 2nd for favorite on the channel. She and John are best friends IRL so they're in each others videos a lot. She's also an artist and makes her own jewelry on Etsy. Her personal channel is hurricaneaubrey.

The 5 original members stayed on the channel the entire time it lasted.  Unfortunately, the cast of VlogCandy decided to stop making videos on that channel in April of 2011. They posted 1 last video that summed up their time on the channel (and was also reminiscent of the first video).

Now onto the daily review!

Elvis (4): This is a mixture of peanut butter and banana. The throw on this is pretty good. I feel like the scents meld together really well, but the banana in it smells more like dried bananas than fresh bananas. I might order this one again, but probably not.
