Day 260 - CBVBB September Haul

Currently Burning: Tropical Temptation

I made my first CBVBB order since June! I was really excited to try some of these that I've been wanting for awhile :)

To start off, I got a back up of Berry Me Alive. I adore Melissa's version of this scent and I knew that I had to pick up another since my first bar is almost gone! This smells like a really creamy orange with some cotton candy mixed in. CBV Berry Me Alive smells mostly like cherry.

Melissa sent me a sample of Love Potion No. 9

I also got a full size bar of LP#9. I really like this one, but it doesn't smell dead on for the CBV scent. It smells a lot like the Bella Swan soap as opposed to LP#9. Of course, I think that LP#9 smells like a combo of Bella Swan and Best Friends so that might be why lol.

Next, I picked up a DKNY Delicious bar. This is a dupe for the DKNY Be Delicious perfume and smells like a perfumy apple type scent. I do think that this one is good for girls and guys though because it's heavier on the apple than the perfume note.

I've been curious about Tiffany-D for awhile. I had the scent shot a long time ago, but didn't really care for it because I'm not big on Honeydew Melon. It's a combo of vanilla, honeydew, watermelon, and cotton candy. This is really nice! I got the bar because I tend to like that a little better than the rounds, but Melissa offers it in both sizes :)

Blackberry Amber is one that I had never tried from CBV before. I'm not really a fan of this one right now. It's a dupe for a BBW fragrance and smells like amber and musk. I don't really get any blackberry out of it.

Lemon Meringue is another one that I had not tried from CBV before, but I love this one! It's a really nice lemon with a good pie crust type note in the background. Most bakery scents haven't transferred well to soap form for me, but this one is awesome!

Melissa wanted to do a Mango Sorbett soap, but the oil was too expensive so she went with the next best option, Mango Smoothie. I LOVE this one!! The strongest note I get is orange, but it has a really juicy mango and some other fruits in there as well. This one is going to be AMAZING in the shower!

Barefoot in Blue Jeans was a customer creation by Deb and it's a combo of Blue Sugar Cotton Candy and Sexy in Stilettos. This one smells predominantly of BSCC but I do get some Lovespell as well! It's awesome and I love both scents individually so I knew I would love this one. It's a little smaller than I thought it was going to be, but the little yellow feet are too cute!

Faerie Ring is another customer creation by Jandre. It's a combo of Apples & Oaks and Raspberry Violet. Another one that I love the two scents individually, but together it's amazing!!! Plus this one is too adorable with the little psychedelic mushrooms on top. Love it!

The last one I picked up is the one that I was most excited for because it is one of my top 5 scents. Banana Coconut Cream Pie did not disappoint!! When I first got it, it had kind of the same funky note that the other bakery ones have had, but smelling it a couple days later and that scent was gone!!! I love BCCP but I just wish the candle was stronger. Now I can smell like it in the shower!

Here's the video to go along with the written review :)

Now onto the daily review!

Tropical Temptation (3): This is a pretty good tropical scent. It smells like a lot of really sweet fruits with some pineapple and coconut. It's good, but really similar to a lot of the other tropicals.

Remember to keep those wicks trimmed!

Day 168 - June CBV and CBVBB Orders

Currently Burning: Moulin Rouge

This month I placed two small orders with CBV and CBVBB. We'll start off with the CBV Bath & Body goodies.

Melissa sent me two samples. The first was half of a star in Shamrock Kiss that I already gave to one of my friends. The second is a cbvbb surprise soap with pina colada, cotton candy, and Tiffany-D.

I reordered two of my favorites this time around. I picked up another Shamrock Kiss.

I also picked up another Rock That Vanilla.

Finally the reason I placed the order was for Berry Me Alive. It's not the same as Victoria's scent since Melissa replaced the cherry with cotton candy. This is SO much better than the original Berry Me Alive though because I get all of the notes pretty equally. Found a new favorite :)

Moving on to CBV...

Scent Shots:
Faerie Ring (Free SS): I got this one in my last order. It's a customer creation of Raspberry Violet and Apples & Oaks. Very pretty and can't wait to burn it!
Jelly Donut (Bakery): This one smells predominantly of Strawberry Jam right now, but it also has kind of a salty dough note in the background. Will have to see how it is warm.
Berry Blackberry Cobbler (Bakery): The longer this one cures, the more I like it. The blackberry is really sweetening up the cobbler note, but I can tell that this won't be quite as sweet as blueberry cobbler. Still good though.
Breaking Dawn (House Blends): The name that scent winner this month was added to the Twilight series. This one starts off with orange immediately followed by cedar. Definitely an earthy scent. I don't really get floral notes yet, but I can tell this is one I'll have to warm to really appreciate.
Melsea (House Blends): This is a combination of Me Tarzan, You Jane and Blushing Peaches as chosen by Melissa and Chelsea. They actually blend really well together and I'm excited to try this one warm. It smells like a very peachy perfume right now.
Pagoda Tree (Customer Creations): This one is a combination of Chantilly Lace and Tokyo Spring. It was created by Awbrey and named by Deb. Right now I'm getting mostly the Chantilly Lace, but the Tokyo Spring is beginning to come out and they make a great pair!

Finally the star of the show: Layered Butterscotch Coconut Cream. This one is AMAZING!!!! I LOVE Victoria's Coconut Cream Pie scent and that is what the top layer is mixed with the butterscotch kisses. I can't wait to burn this one. The yellow layer is butterscotch, creme brulee, and buttercream crunch. The white layer on the bottom is cheesecake mixed with whipped cream. The crumbs at the bottom are butter pecan and caramelized pralines. This is a HUGE candle and is sure to be amazing!

And the Video Review:

Now onto the daily review!

Moulin Rouge (3): This one is super complex. It's like a spicy bakery with some woody notes as well. The description is a mile long and includes a TON of different fragrances. I'm having a hard time picking out individual scents, but it definitely has a sweet, cake note, some woody notes, and some kitchen spices. The throw is fairly decent on it, but it could be stronger.

Day 119 - CBV Bath and Body April Haul

Currently Burning: Bonsai

Back for another CBV Bath and Body haul!! These are seriously the best soaps out there (IMO). The smell is great, lather is awesome, and the scent really lingers long after your shower!! This is my 3rd purchase from Melissa and I think this may be my best order yet! I'm also loving the new packaging that Melissa has!

First I got some backups in scents that I love. I raved about Kiwi Kicker in my last haul so I had to grab a back up of it.

I also picked up another of Bath Time with Pooh

The first new scent I got was Eternity for Men. I've never tried the candle before, but it smells dead on for the Calvin Klein cologne. The soap is shaped very similar to Rock That Vanilla with green switched out for white. This is an awesome scent for guys. To me, it's a younger man's cologne. Perfect for the shower!

The next one I got is White Nectarine & Pink Coral. I have a candle in this and I love this scent! It's a peachy/nectarine scent with some clean notes in the background. It translates really well to soap!

I also picked up a Banana Kiwi soap. This one comes with a loofah stuck in the middle of the soap (makes a great handle!) The green part is kiwi and the yellow is banana. The kiwi smells the same as the kiwi in Kiwi Kicker, but the banana doesn't smell like Victoria's regular banana scent. It smells more like an actual banana rather than candy banana! I love the way the two scents mix.

Next is Bottom's Up. The yellow piece at the top is pineapple, the white shavings are coconut, and the bottom is Pina Colada. I'm loving this one. It's a really great tropical scent and I need to try Pina Colada in candle form soon!!!

I was so excited to pick up a Cantaloupe soap because I've heard raves about it! It smells exactly like fresh cut cantaloupe. I don't really like the taste of cantaloupe but this smells SO good!!! This is vying for the top spot of this order!

Finally I picked up Shamrock Kiss. I've been dying for this one to come out!!! It's the reason that I placed this order! It's a very good clean scent. It has some green notes, but mostly just smells sweet & clean to me. You need to pick this one up if you haven't already because it's awesome as a bathroom candle scent and awesome in soap form. It's also very non-obtrusive to others so it makes a good one to use for guests :)

Melissa was also so sweet and threw in 2 free soaps! These are the molds that she uses for her Love Shack soap so they're HUGE for being samples too!! Thank you so much again Melissa you rock - this is why I'll never buy from anyone else for my Bath and Body needs :)

The one on the right is Bottom's Up, which is awesome. The one on the left is a mixture of 2 different ones. We were joking on the CBV Addicts Unite page awhile back about having a CBV Surprise Soap to go along with the CBV surprise candle. Well, she sent me one!!! LOL. The white part is Love Shack and the green part is Kiwi Kicker. It's a really interesting mixture so I can't wait to try it out!

Here's my video to accompany this review:

Now onto the daily review!

Bonsai (4): This one is really good warmed up! It smells like a very doughy pudding. Kind of like Bread pudding without the spices or a rice pudding. It's extremely sweet and I was surprised at how strong it threw!! The vanilla blossoms don't make it smell like a straight up rice pudding, but a sweetened up version.

Day 098 - CBV Bath and Body St Patrick's Day Sale

Currently Burning: Mango Tango

In my last CBV Bath & Body post I mentioned the St. Patrick's Day sale Melissa had with 17% off. I'm really loving these soaps. I've tried all but the blueberry cheesecake soap and they're all great! I'm also loving Melissa's website because you can log in and save your orders! It will also keep track of your shopping bag (mine may or may not have multiple already in it). These are the soaps I ended up getting during the sale.

The first is Kiwi Kicker. I also just got the scent shot of this one and it smells exactly the same. I actually like it better in soap form though! The scent on this one really lingered too. I'm finding that the fruity fragrances really work with the soap base. Definitely needs to become a staple at my house.

The next is Blueberry Cheesecake. This one also smells almost identical to the candle scent. These cupcakes are really cute and I'm sure would be pretty easy to use in the shower.

Next I picked up Caramelized Pralines. This one comes with the whipped soap on the top that can be used as shaving cream. I tried this on my face and it actually ended up burning my upper lip. Probably not designed for the face, but I'm sure would be great to shave your legs with. The lather on the soap bar part was probably the best out of the order. This one also did not smell like the candle fragrance. I'm not sure if the bakery fragrances just don't mix well with the soap base or what because this one isn't my favorite. I'm not a huge fan of Caramelized Pralines to begin with, but it's just strange to me as a soap so I probably won't be reordering this one.

I also picked up a Pink Cupcake bar. Again, I think the bakery fragrances mixed with soap base just don't go great together. I haven't tried the pink cupcake scent by itself, but I have had Pink Noel. This smells very similar to that so I assume it's close. I won't be repurchasing this fragrance just because I'm not a fan of the bakery scents. The lather on this was was really good too.

Finally I picked up 2 more bars of Rock That Vanilla. I may end up giving one of these as a gift, but this is my favorite of the soaps that I've tried from Melissa. The staying power of this fragrance is amazing! My first bar is about halfway gone now so I'm glad I have the backup.

Overall, I was very pleased with my order. Even though Caramelized Pralines and Pink Cupcake aren't great to me, I'll still use them because they are still amazing soaps. Who knows, maybe after a few times in the shower I'll decide I can't get enough (I swear that Victoria puts cocaine in her scent fragrances...). Melissa came out with a whole bunch of new fragrances that should be posted soon on the website - I'm still holding out for Shamrock Kiss though (even though my cart is full of new ones lol)

Now onto the daily review!

Mango Tango (5): This is one of my favorite fragrances from CBV. It's clean, but at the same time it's fruity. It's a dupe for the Gain Apple Mango Tango laundry detergent. I haven't tried Gain Island Fresh, but I really want to just to see which I like better. The throw is also really strong. I have a 9 oz that is a little over halfway gone, so I'll be needing to pick up another soon.

Day 077 - My First CBV Bath & Body Order!

Currently Burning: Jacob Black

I finally ordered from CBV Bath & Body (formerly CBV Soaps by Melissa)! Look how cute the packaging is on these things! I love the little stickers and ribbons. She also signed a little thank you note on the invoice (which was really sweet and pretty cool :) ) I got 5 different soaps in this order, and so far I've used 4 of them. In the pictures, they're sitting on a 4oz/8oz/9oz candle jar lid for comparison (and so I didn't have to set them directly on my table).

The first one I used was Rock that Vanilla. I've never tried the scent in either the L*** version or CBV version. I LOVE this as a soap smell. This was a little smaller than I originally thought it was going to be, which disappointed me at first, but then I realized how long these suckers last! I cut off probably about a half inch slice from the end, and it's still going strong after several days in the shower. Also, the scent really lingers throughout the day. I felt every time I shifted at my desk at work I would get a whiff of RTV. Love it!

The next one I tried was Bath Time with Pooh. I have had this scent before in some heart tarts a LONG time ago under a different name (back before the drama with the company that shall not be named). The soap smells exactly like the CBV scent (duh!). I cut this bad boy in half and really enjoy it as a soap. It's a little harder for me to wash with because of the shape, but it's too cute so that's totally ok with me :)

The next one I got was Bella Swan. I waited until today to use this one, because I know how strong Bella Swan is in candle form (Top 3 easily) and I really didn't want to smell like that all day because it is DEFINITELY a feminine scent. I was pleasantly surprised that the glitter doesn't stick to my skin. Smells exactly like Bella so it's pretty much amazing :)

The next two are both the cupcake soaps. This one is a cupcake critter in the scent Adidas Cool Water. I've never smelled the cologne, but I really like this one! It didn't seem to linger as long as some of the others, but this is certainly a good scent for guys in the shower. These are also really cute and great gifts for kids to play with in the bathtub. The rubber ducky on top is really stuck in there, so I've found that it makes it a lot easier to hold onto these soaps in the shower.

The last one I have not used yet. It is a Glamour Cuppy-Duckie in the scent Cotton Candy. For some reason I have still yet to try this in candle form. Honestly, I'm not too crazy about the scent pre-shower but I may just be smelling the rubber duck.

Overall I'm extremely pleased with these products. They lather up pretty good for me and are definitely moisturizing. I do not have dry or oily skin so I typically don't really have to worry about lotion/moisturizer. The most amazing thing for me about these is the staying power of the scent. It really does last all day (especially Rock that Vanilla).

Shipping is not flat rate with CBV Bath & Body (which is good because I don't feel like I have to break the bank to get a good rate on shipping). It's also through USPS so no waiting like a mad person for the big brown truck ;) It did take the full 7 business days to ship to me (I ordered March 1st and it was shipped on March 9th). USPS was really fast though and it arrived the following Monday (March 12th).

Melissa is currently having a St. Patrick's Day sale that ends tonight (March 17th) at Midnight. The code before checkout is PATTY and it's a 17% discount. I placed an order yesterday so I'll be excited to share that with you all once it gets here!

Now onto the daily review!

Jacob Black (5): This was one of the first scents from CBV that I tried and I instantly loved it. My 9 oz in this one is just about to run out so I'll have to get another one. This scent is very woodsy, with the dominant note of Patchouli. The throw is also really strong.
