Day 029 - Update on School/Work

Currently Burning: Key Lime Pie

With January coming to a close, my work life is starting to pick up. Since I'm busiest during the summer, the spring semester is a time of hiring staff, prepping for summer, and beginning the discussion for groups that want to come to campus. While I appreciate having slower Fall semesters, it can sometimes make it harder to get revved up in the spring. By March I'll be in full-blown busy mode.

As far as school goes, I'm already behind in one of my classes. Of the 3 classes, 1 has assignments due every week, 1 has assignments due every other week, and 1 doesn't have due dates. I always find the ones that do not have due dates the most difficult to motivate myself to complete. I'm on track with the first two (just need to finish my discussion board post and then I'm good for this week) but my Principles of Adult Ed class I haven't even started.

I did realize that my diversity class is actually a lot more difficult than I originally imagined. Hopefully this semester ends well. I'm so ready to have my Master's degree so I can be done with school. Taking 1 class at a time isn't too bad, but this whole full-time thing sucks. I'm just ready to be done (December graduation here I come!) I'm glad I'm doing this blog because hopefully it will help me stay on track.

Now onto the daily review!

Key Lime Pie (4): This is true to what it is supposed to be. I can smell the Graham Cracker Crust and the Key Lime filling. I can tell it's key lime because it smells very tart like a key lime. The throw on this one is pretty good as well so I may be reordering this one in a smaller candle.

Day 012 - Getting Excited for the Spring Semester

Currently Burning: Leaves Type

Yesterday's post about my books turned out to be incomplete. My classes finally posted to BlackBoard and it looks like I forgot to order one of my books. Now I'll probably have to pay shipping on it unless I can find it for cheaper at the bookstore (unlikely). That really makes me mad because I was so excited that I had gotten all my books early and for pretty cheap!

Other than that I looked over the syllabi and other information for my classes. Facilitating Learning in the Workplace is definitely going to be the hardest class. There are a LOT of assignments and group projects. Diversity and Globalization is going to be the next hardest. However, I'm really excited for this class, because one of the assignments is an "Immersion" where we have to choose do something that makes us uncomfortable. I'll explain it more when I actually do it. The Principles of Adult Learning class is going to be super easy. There's no due dates or discussions. I am really excited for the spring semester to start. I'll probably hate it 2 weeks in, but for now I'm ready!

In other news, my CBV order shipped today!!!!!!  It should come on Monday which is great because I'm off work for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Definitely will have a haul post on either Monday or Tuesday :) Now onto the daily review!

Leaves Type (3): This is a dupe for the Bath and Body Works Leaves (which I've never smelled). Not a huge fan of this one. The scent throw is very light. To me, this smells like Hobby Lobby or Michaels in the fall. There's fresh apple peel and some spices in it. I probably won't by this again.

Day 011 - Got my Textbooks!

Currently Burning: Leesha

I was excited to see I had 2 packages when I got home! They were my textbooks for the Spring semester that starts on Tuesday. Currently I'm a grad student pursuing a Master's of Education in Workforce Development - emphasis in Human Resources. So far I've taken 9 hours. I'm taking 9 hours this semester for the first time (took 6 last Fall). Not sure how it's going to work out, but hopefully it won't be too bad. My degree program is completely online so that's a plus!

I'm taking Facilitating Learning in the Work Place,  Diversity Issues and Globalization, and Principles of Adult Learning. The Workforce Development program is tied in with Adult Education so I have to take a lot of those courses. I've actually found that I like the adult education classes a lot so I'm not sure if I really want to finish the HR portion. I should graduate in December either way.

Now onto the daily review!

Leesha (3): This one is named after xsparkage on YouTube. It's a fresh apple/cinnamon type scent. I'm not really a huge fan of that type of scent. It's a mixture of dutch apple crunch and buttery caramel. Honestly all I get is the dutch apple crunch. It's really not even the dutch apple crunch that I remember because it's mostly just apple/cinnamon with a very sweet note. The throw is pretty strong on this one as well.
