Currently Burning: Key Lime Pie
With January coming to a close, my work life is starting to pick up. Since I'm busiest during the summer, the spring semester is a time of hiring staff, prepping for summer, and beginning the discussion for groups that want to come to campus. While I appreciate having slower Fall semesters, it can sometimes make it harder to get revved up in the spring. By March I'll be in full-blown busy mode.
As far as school goes, I'm already behind in one of my classes. Of the 3 classes, 1 has assignments due every week, 1 has assignments due every other week, and 1 doesn't have due dates. I always find the ones that do not have due dates the most difficult to motivate myself to complete. I'm on track with the first two (just need to finish my discussion board post and then I'm good for this week) but my Principles of Adult Ed class I haven't even started.
I did realize that my diversity class is actually a lot more difficult than I originally imagined. Hopefully this semester ends well. I'm so ready to have my Master's degree so I can be done with school. Taking 1 class at a time isn't too bad, but this whole full-time thing sucks. I'm just ready to be done (December graduation here I come!) I'm glad I'm doing this blog because hopefully it will help me stay on track.
Now onto the daily review!
Key Lime Pie (4): This is true to what it is supposed to be. I can smell the Graham Cracker Crust and the Key Lime filling. I can tell it's key lime because it smells very tart like a key lime. The throw on this one is pretty good as well so I may be reordering this one in a smaller candle.

Day 009 - Haircuts and Hot Messes
Currently Burning: Banana Coconut Cream Pie
Finally broke down and got a hair cut today. I really hate getting hair cuts, but today's wasn't really bad at all. I actually had a good conversation with the hair dresser and left her a pretty decent tip. I like having my hair short because it's manageable, but I hate getting it cut. I just need to pony up and do it like once a month.
Other than that today was a hot mess at work! Apparently today was the day that all incoming freshman for the spring semester were getting housing assignments. I do not understand why they cannot assign beforehand. Whatever. Basically the entire hallway on both sides was covered in people waiting. Like everyone's extra chairs from their offices/conference rooms were out in the hallway. I had to peace out early because I couldn't deal with all that (which is why I scheduled my hair cut for 4PM!)
I picked up the new mail key today and got Gears of War (the original). Probably going to play that tonight. Well, I'm debating between that and just going to sleep. I didn't fall asleep until after 3AM last night, so I'm pretty tired. I'm afraid that if I don't go to sleep in the next few hours that I'll pass the threshold of tired and into the realm of crazy! Enough rambling for today - onto the daily review!
Banana Coconut Cream Pie (5): I have a full size candle of just coconut cream pie and I really like it. I figured I would try this because (a) I really like the coconut cream pie candle, and (b) sayanythingbr00ke said this was amazing. It has the same "fake" banana scent that Victoria uses (smells like banana laffy taffy or runts). I don't dislike that smell, but it isn't my favorite. After it is burned, it really does smell amazing! The coconut and banana mellow out very nicely with a vanilla bakery scent. Definitely going to upgrade this one! The scent throw is also a lot stronger on this one than just the coconut cream pie.

Day 003 - Back to Work
Currently Burning: Sugared Corn Pudding
Today was my first day back to work since the holidays. I was actually ready to go back, even though I only had 2 weeks off for break (much more than some get, so believe me I know I'm blessed). I really love my job so that is probably part of the reason. Of course, in every work place there's things that are frustrating, but overall I'm really happy with where I am now. My job duties actually expanded a little in December, so I'm mostly working on new stuff now.
I'm working on some topics for the next few weeks so hopefully it will begin to get more interesting around here ;) I'm hoping that tomorrows will be pretty informative for any that are wondering what scent shots are and how to use them!
Now onto the review:
Sugared Corn Pudding (5): Very sweet bakery note when hot. Smells like sugar cookies mixed with a corn note. You get more of the corn before it's melted, but after it melts it mellows out to a wonderfully sweet smell. The throw is medium on this one. I really like this one because it reminds me of a sweet corn casserole fresh out of the oven. I'll be ordering probably a mini candle in this one at some point. I think it's a really great scent for this time of year, because it helps warm up my apartment.
